Newsletter 003 August 2006
Hot off the press, for all you cheese lovers out there, is news that European Food Wholesalers have just started to import some of the freshest French cheeses you will ever see this side of Paris. Now everyone has their favourite cheese be it Danish Blue, Camembert, Brie, Parmesan or Cheddar to name a few of the more well known types.
I would have to say that my favourite cheese is a Triple Cream Style Brie.
Now each type of cheese has it own distinct flavour, texture, scent and are used for different styles of cooking. So rather than bore you all with what cheese is good for what dish, instead I'm going to talk about the freshness of cheese.
Today, I was at the checkout in Coles (a large chain supermarket in Perth) putting through my groceries. While I was standing there, almost dieing of boredom and watching the lady with no personality put through my shopping, a lady walked up to the main service counter with a complaint about her blue Costello cheese.
As I came out of my daze with excitement that there was going to be some action, I over heard her explaining how she had purchased it the day before and as she unwrapped the foil she said "Its Mouldy!"
I thought "Well all blue cheese is! Get over it Lady!" But as I was winding up my shopping trip and was walking away I thought to myself "Well I wonder how mouldy can blue cheese be?"
I then had a vision. Let's have a Cheese tasting in celebration of all the great cheese that Catherine at European Food Wholesalers is importing.
I want to give you guys a first hand cheese extravaganza, so we can all sample and learn about cheese at the same time.
So on Monday 4th of September at 6.30pm Vineleaves and European Foods are giving 25 of my lucky website foodies a chance to come to a free night of cheese tasting.
The catch is that you have to email me and let me know which is your favorite cheese and why you like it!!
Remember places with be limited and it's a good chance to catch up and talk food.
I'm really looking forward to hearing from you all!!
